2019/2020 School Year
Supporting Terry Fox is a well-established and proud tradition at the WGSS and both today and tomorrow students are participating in special Terry Fox runs within their PHE classes. We will be offering a special Terry Fox run opportunity during Flex tomorrow (Friday Oct.4th) for those students who might not be in a PHE class or for staff that want an opportunity to participate. Terry Fox himself ran 5373 KM and if every WGSS student ran 3 K on these days then we as a school combined have matched this amazing feat. PHE teachers have been collecting general donations and will continue to do so until Oct.11th which is the day of our epic Tuff Wally event. Check out this awesome video, which was created by a WGSS student, which helps explain this awesome opportunity: http://www.tuffwally.com/.
Students have until Oct. 7th to sign up online and submit their paper waivers which can be picked up from their PHE teacher, from the main office counter, or downloaded off the website. Tuff Wally teams are encouraged to create unique costumes for the event as well as fundraise as a team either by collecting cash donations or setting up a team donation page: https://tinyurl.com/y3phxm4u.
There will be a mandatory Tuff Wally participant meeting on Monday Oct.7th during Flex in our New gym. Teams can bring their donations and paperwork to this meeting or visit Rosemary Davis in room 121 before the meeting. Parents and community members who would like to contribute to this year’s WGSS Terry Fox campaign can do so quickly and easily online using their credit card: https://tinyurl.com/y6y5c2xb.
Please encourage your son or daughter to participate in this year’s Tuff Wally and we thank you in advance for your support. We hope that Gator Nation can surpass last year’s astonishing achievement of $27,000 raised for the Terry Fox Foundation but we need everyone to pull together.
