Course Description

Graphics 12 is a course with two focuses: Graphic Design, and Web Site Design. Students will be taught layout and design principles. They will also be taught how to critique and identify what makes a design look good. In the second half of the year, they will learn how to make a professional web page using the same techniques professional web designers use. High-end, industry standard software including Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash and Corel Draw, are used throughout the course.

Before & After Assignments

• Study colour theory (BA0646OurColorWheel.pdf).  Resdesign the business card using 4 different color relationships as outlined in the common drive.

• Design 3 different sized projects (stationary, business card,  web banner, brochure cover, etc.) for 3 different companies using the concepts descrbed in Picture it Twice (BA0640PictureItTwice).

  Final Design Assignment

• Using what you've learnt from the Before and After (B&A) assignments, you are to design a brochure for a company. This company can be fictional or real. The brochure needs to have a cover, plus 6 inside pages. The text can be real or lipsum based, but it must look good (the titles should be real text). I would recommend the following areas: car brochure, spa brochure, a ski/snowboard brochure - really, anything that is VERY visual and that you'll be able to find high quality images for on the net.
• Use Photoshop for any image editing you need to do, but the brochure should be layed out and finalized in Corel Draw.
  
• In addition to the Before and After topics we've covered already, I want to see the following articles integrated also - BA0652PanoramicBooklet.pdf, BA0657BigBoldBeautiful.pdf, BA0661ACatalogOfRectangles.pdf, BA0636DesignBelowTheLine.pdf and BA0609SimplyBorderless.
